Campus Corner is a district with a lot of change, especially this year with so many new bars about to open. The Deli has remained through it all as the oldest bar on Campus Corner. Featuring nightly live music, this bar is something truly unique on The Corner.
Sum up The Deli in the length of a Tweet
Bobby: Disappointing lack of meats but the live music is pretty solid.
Andrew:In my opinion, good dive bars are hard to come by-especially in Norman. The deli is my exception. Live music, cheap beer, and karaoke. Also, My So Called Band is reeeeeally good. (Editor’s Note: Over by 40 characters but i’ll let it slide)
Mike: Cheap beer, live music, chill crowds. This dive bar is the Corner’s best kept secret.
Which night is the best night for The Deli?
Bobby: Preferably, any night with no cover. The Deli is a chill place, but if I pay cover to go anywhere, I’m going all in on that bar. I recommend Karaoke Tuesdays.
Andrew: Best night is Karaoke Tuesdays by far. Consistently fun. You’ll see my up there singing Best I Ever Had by Drake every week. Better than O’Conn’s karaoke by a country mile.
Mike: Sunday nights with Mike Hosty. He’s played every week since 2000. You’re not showing up to Monday’s 8:30 anyway, so might as well get lit and sing along to “Oklahoma Breakdown” at 1 am.
Favorite thing about The Deli?
Bobby: The Deli is nice because it’s a no frills, no bullshit kind of place. It’s a dive bar in the truest sense of the word. When you mix live music, great drink deals and a funky atmosphere, you get a unique experience that you can’t find anywhere else in Norman.
Andrew: Cigs inside.
Mike: It’s not Sevens or Logies, so I won’t run into any ex-girlfriends there. Also, Cigs Inside!
Least favorite thing about the bar?
Bobby: It’s crazy small, so room is scarce. Be ready to wait in line most weekends.
Andrew: It’s a little run down- but I think it adds to the charm.
Mike: There’s two places on Campus Corner that charge cover. The Deli is one. I think everyone knows the other. Decide for yourself which is more deserving of that rolled up $5 in your back pocket.
What is your go-to drink here?
Bobby: Big Red Cup of Bud and a shot or get the fuck out.
Andrew: Best drink is easily the red cup special. 3 bucks for 32 ounces of beer. Sign me up every time.
Mike: $3.25 Red Cup filled with Bud Heavy. The absolute cheapest buzz this side of a Sidewalk Slammer.
There you have it. If you’re looking for the best weekday hole-in-the-wall with the best damn cup of Budweiser, The Deli is your spot.
